President of Board, Timothy Dowell

Timothy is a graduate of USC with a Master of Science in Counseling and is a licensed marriage and family counselor. He worked for the Los Angeles Superior Court as an LPS Hearing Officer and for the Mental Health Court. He is a founding member of the California Patient Right’s Advocate Association and a member of the California Native Plants Society, National Parks Association and Yosemite Conservation Association. His front yard is populated with native flowers, vegetables and fruit trees. He joins The Rootstock Foundation as President of the Board of Directors.

Secretary/Director Heather Shelton

Heather is the co‐owner of North Coast Music Together, a child development music program. She is ballet trained, and has enjoyed music and movement all of her life, performing in numerous Humboldt Light Opera Company productions. Heather is also a certified personal trainer and an oil pastel artist. She was the Lifestyle Editor and Writer for the Eureka Times‐Standard for over 20 years and currently serves as assistant Recreation Coordinator for the City of Eureka Parks and Recreation Department. She joins The Rootstock Foundation as Secretary and as a Director of the Board.

Treasurer/Director Joe Curtis

Joe is a graduate of UCLA and was a U.S. Naval Aviation commissioned officer. He is the Owner and Creative Director since 1995 of Curtis and Company, located in Beverly Hills. Joe is involved with brand and corporate identity development, web design and internet strategies, as well as collateral design, marketing and advertising campaigns for various business sectors, including Medical, Entertainment and Aerospace. He joins The Rootstock Foundation as Treasurer and a Director of the Board.

Director Sherelle Diggs

Sherelle grew up in a military family and has seen much of the world. She has worked for the Federal Reserve of Richmond and also as a flight attendant for a major airline. Currently, she works in Real Estate and Property Management and as a motivational speaker. She has been a volunteer at Westchester Enriched Sciences Magnets High School and is a board member of the Parent Teacher Organization. She joins The Rootstock Foundation as a Director of the Board and parent/teacher advisor.

Director Joe Starks

Joe is a graduate of Los Angeles Trade Technical School and credentialed Green Construction teacher at Westchester Enriched Sciences Magnets High School. He is a licensed General Contractor and owner operator of Joe Starks Construction Co. “I learned at an early age that struggle is not something you purposely avoid. I was taught by my father that struggle must be faced head‐on and embraced, doing so can only make you a stronger person.” He joins The Rootstock Foundation as a Director of the Board and farm lab design advisor.
