Community Agriculture and Business Incubators

The RootStock Foundation will introduce students to community agriculture, encouraging them to start and operate community-based food production gardens by in-filling school sites, home owner property partners and empty neighborhood lots. Students will be supported throughout their effort by representatives and advisers from The RootStock Foundation.

The RootStock Foundation will introduce students to business practices such as student-operated CSA’s, produce markets, farm boxes and direct-to-vendor sales.

"My hope? That many more children have the opportunity to grow up in cooperative spaces; that more adults get the respect and empowerment that comes from working in cooperatives and buying from co-ops; and that over time, diverse forms of democratic ownership displace predatory capitalism as the foundation for our economy." — Sarah van Gelder
